The link between overfishing, climate change and ocean resilience – webinar with Dr. Rashid Sumaila

On June 8th, World Ocean’s Day, at 7pm CEST, Sciaena will be hosting a webinar via Zoom, under the title “The connection between overfishing, climate change and ocean resilience” where we will have the presence of Rashid Sumaila, professor and researcher at the Research Unit in Fisheries Economics of the University of British Columbia, who published areport last year explaining how ending overfishing will help mitigate the effects of climate change.
Dr. Ussif Rashid Sumaila is Professor and Director of the Research Unit in Fisheries Economics at UBC and a specialist in bioeconomics, valuation of marine ecosystems and in the analysis of global issues related to fisheries, such as fishing subsidies, IUU fishing and the economic of high and deep-sea fisheries.
Sciaena has been conducting this series of webinars as a way to promote public debate on key issues for our society and our oceans.
The webinar will be held in English and the registration is free, but it must be made to sciaena@sciaena.org in order for the attendees to receive instructions for participation.
