Maria Pena Ermida

Graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic Portuguese University, she sought to deepen her knowledge in the area of ​​economics of the sea and, for that reason, she also completed a postgraduate course in Sea Science and Business Administration, an interdisciplinary course promoted by the Catholic Portuguese University and the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lisbon. She continued her studies, becoming a Master in International and European Law at the Faculty of Law of NOVA University of Lisbon, specializing in Law of the Sea. She is currently doing her PhD focused on the governance of marine areas beyond the jurisdiction of States at the Católica Global School of Law, Catholic Portuguese University. While pursuing her academic career as a researcher at the Católica Center for the Future of Law, she has provided legal support to several non-governmental organizations. She is also an active member of the Youth Policy Advisory Council of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance, being particularly committed to the working group dedicated to deep sea mining.
