President of the Republic welcomed Sciaena on International Biodiversity Day

On the 21st of May, Sciaena had the pleasure to introduce its work to the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The meeting took place on the International Biodiversity Day, at the Palace of Belém. Several NGOs had the opportunity to present their work to the President of the Republic, showing the multidisciplinary nature of the associations, spread throughout the national territory.

Sciaena was one of the NGOs appointed by the Portuguese Confederation of Associations for the Defense of the Environment to present the activities it has developed in recent years in order to contribute to a healthy and resilient ocean, and Mar Motto in particular.

Gonçalo Carvalho, Sciaena’s representative at this event, said that “it was a profound honor to be able to present Sciaena to our President. We hope to continue to count with his support in the coming years, to Sciaena’s work in particular, but also to contineu to be an active voice on the crucial role of environmental conservation associations.”
