Sciaena attended the first in-person meeting of the Advisory Council for the Outermost Regions, an organization that brings together fishermen, NGOs and other entities, with the objective of guaranteeing healthy marine ecosystems and sustainable fisheries. Among several representatives of the governments of Spain, Portugal and France, a delegation from the European Commission was also present, including the Director General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Charlina Vitcheva.

At this meeting, which took place in Praia da Vitória, where the Advisory Council is based, issues particularly relevant to the outermost regions were discussed, such as the distribution of quotas and the use of EMFAF. Sciaena participated in the working groups and in the general assembly, where it will continue to exert influence so that fisheries in the outermost regions, especially in the Azores, are an example of sustainability and prosperity.

In what was one of the most interesting moments of the 3-day meeting, the International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF), an NGO dedicated to developing, supporting and promoting pole and line in a socially and environmentally responsible way around the world, exhibited 3 videos of a mini-series about pole and line, which includes images and stories from the Azores. The first episode can be seen here.

Sciaena also leaves a note of condolence for the passing of Georges-Michel Karam, president of the Regional Fisheries Committee and defender of the interests of French Guiana fishermen.
