Nicolas Blanc

Nicolas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (University of Algarve) and a Master’s degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC programme). He subsequently worked in various roles as a volunteer and marine biologist in the fields of marine conservation, cetacean research, fisheries impact mitigation, and seafood value enhancement. Shortly after discovering Sciaena, he became a volunteer with the NGO in 2016 and joined the team in 2017 as a Fisheries and Aquaculture Officer. After several years working on responsible fisheries policies, reducing the environmental impacts of fishing and other human activities, organising awareness-raising events, and later coordinating Sciaena’s work on fisheries and biodiversity, Nicolas became Co-Executive Director in 2026.
