Catarina Abril

Graduated from the University of Algarve in Marine Biology and Master in Marine Biology and Conservation by ISPA, she is a real “sharky”. Her love for sharks earned her, in 2019, the Women in Shark Science scholarship from the South African Shark Conservancy, allowing her to do an internship in Hermanus, South Africa. In her spare time, she collaborates with the SEI Portugal Association and the Ocean Hub Portugal, and is also an announcer and producer of the MARÉ podcast, a project that sparked her love for communication and awareness. She is currently part of Sciaena’s Marine Litter team as communication manager for the PlasticSea and Há Mar e Mar projects, and also collaborates in Sciaena’s work against deep sea mining
